Motherhood

quote (1).png

If there could be another word to define human it would hormones. Motherhood provides the best stage for hormones to put on a big show! And I'm not just talking about biological mothers, you certainly don't have to give birth to be an unsuspecting host of this show.

From the ovulation process, to sexual desire, to nurturing a new human life - one born with over 200 bones, over 10 complete and working organ systems and trillions of cells that communicate with each other at an unimaginable rate - to birthing this new human being. Every step of this process starts and ends with hormone signals.

You can find a plethora of videos, documentaries and books offering information on the life creating process. I certainly have gone through my share during my educational years and even more while pregnant. I chose the Hypno Birthing - Mongan Method - during my pregnancies and birth of my three children.

A couple of years ago I came across this gem of a book. I was in the thick of post-partum depression and reaching out to the nurturing and healing energy of the women in my life. Nothing better than a book on Motherhood to add printed words to my repertoire of tools. I hope you'll enjoy it too so I added the link for it HERE .

In the creative process, man and woman are co-creators with God. Many cultures around the world believe that a woman's passage into Motherhood symbolizes the rebirth of the new mother herself. It certainly was for me. I often feel inadequate in this 'new world' and for that I'm grateful that it DOES take a "village to raise a child." I'm deeply grateful for my children's grandmothers, aunts, cousins, teacher, leaders, friend's mothers and our neighbors. My challenges and wins in Motherhood is what fuels my motivation in the work that I do with Women's Health. It has softened my heart to find understanding and compassion for the moms I get to work with. Because of them I have created Programs; Regimens and Retreats to fit their unique and diverse health needs. Their influence has pushed me to become a better version of me which helps me show up to my kids in a more complete way than if I were doing it on my own.

My Mother,  Amélia and her 5 children. This has been the most emotional post to date for me mostly because of how I feel when I think about her. Equally influential in my life is my sister. Our 10-year difference made it possible for me to be her "living doll" and later on the "training ground" for her own children. How lucky I am to call these two unique women mine.
